Those who’ve listened to The Hobo Song on Give Us a Song have heard me tell about my grandmother-in-law, Lillie Rosebery, and about the hobos who always found their way to her house. Listen carefully and you can hear a little more of the story at the end of the CD’s title track.
Debbie and I went through Medford on our way home from Oklahoma City, and we brought back a few images to share.
The grain elevator is probably where hobos hopped off the train there at Medford, Oklahoma.
They’d walk up this alley.
And find their way to where Miss Lillie’s back door used to be. It’s now a parking lot for the Methodists.
This is First Christian Church, where Lillie went to worship.
And where you have tracks, you’re likely to find a hobo.
